A Distant Monarch

about

I remember writing this whilst living in a big house in Niwot, Colorado with several of my friends. One of them was/is well into techno of various sorts - Joshua Smith is his name (now a producer himself as Time For Trees - and together we are known as Les Freres Courvoisier). This was one of the first attempts I made at making something remotely techno/dance influenced. To me, it represents an important change for me, not only because I was beginning to go out to techno parties (never went to raves when I was younger). I found several DJs playing really deep minimal music, and became part of a great community of people in what was a much smaller scene at the time. I started dancing to the music which gave me a completely different perspective - which further fueled my interest in dance rhythm and culture in general. So here it is... the inception of party perspective.
